(PRWEB) - (PRWEB) January 20, 2006 -- Those nut, fruit, and vegetable operations that receive, hold, and ship raw agricultural commodities, such as sweet corn, green beans, carrots, alfalfa sprouts, peppers, apples and other crops, are mandated by the Bioterrorism Act of 2002 to register all their facilities, wherever food commodities and produce are received, cleaned, stored, blended, and processed, and then shipped again. Operations that receive raw agricultural commodities and manufacture them into food and pack it also are required to comply with this law. Even the delivery truck and its drivers have to be recorded. This mandate to keep records of all produce received, stored, and shipped is required to help prevent natural or terrorist contamination.
The nut, fruit, and vegetable recordkeeping process must be in place by June 2006 for operations that have 11 or more employees. After this date, all records must be available to the FDA as soon as possible, and no longer than 24 hours after a request is made if contamination is tracked to a produce handling operation.
ScoringAg provides all necessary records, including precise location records (PIDC code), of the product with traceback available in just seconds. The records requested by FDA may be related to the manufacture, processing, packing, transporting, distribution, receipt, holding, or importation of such an article of food that are maintained by, or on behalf of, an entity subject to the recordkeeping regulation, and at any location.
ScoringAg's Point-to-Point Traceback™ system keeps the produce ID and/or RFID number from the field through the processing stage or storage, to the transporter's log through every processing stage, from the grower to the table, all for just pennies per record. Each produce label can carry an SSI-EID number and/or barcode that corresponds to that one item’s total history of food handlers and its quality.
