Small Biography:
I have owned and worked around cattle since age eight when my grandfather, Cleavy Johnson, Sr., bequeathed to me my first two cows. Since inheriting those two cows, I have started and grown my own cattle farm, Local Cattle Company, and also helped my father with his cattle farm. At my cattle farm, I have mostly been a cow/calf operation, but I have also raised steers for a local stocker, Parkman Cattle Company, on weight gain consignment. For approximately five years, I worked for my uncle, Cleavy Johnson, Jr., at Springhill Farms in Pine Level, Alabama. While at Springhill Farms, we not only took care of the day to day operations at Springhill Farms raising cattle and quarter horses, but we also did custom work for Parkman Cattle Company and Young Ranch. In 2007, I increased my knowledge of cattle farming by attending Bovine Elite in College Station, Texas where I learned palpation and artificial insemination. I attended Troy University at the main campus in Troy, Alabama from 1995 to 1999 where I earned a bachelors degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing. Since graduating from Troy, I have held other jobs that were not related to agriculture which include tower construction work, working as a contractor conducting background investigations for security clearances for the United States Office of Personnel Management, carpentry work, loading trucks for UPS, helping proctor concrete technician classes, and servicing soil density gauges.
